Background
Forest environments, hot-spring bathing and SPA treatment may each support relaxation and recovery. This project examines not one intervention in isolation, but how the three may be sequenced across time and sensory experience.
Research question
How can visual, auditory, olfactory and walking experiences in a forest transition into hot-spring bathing and then SPA treatment, and how long might the resulting sense of recovery last?
Conceptual model
The model connects autonomic regulation, perceived restoration, warmth and circulation, tactile safety and subjective relaxation as observable pathways.
Study design
A small exploratory study could compare isolated and sequenced experiences, measuring perceived recovery, sleep quality and stress on the same day, after 24 hours and several days later.
Practical significance
The model offers a testable framework linking forest-wellness programmes, hot-spring resources and beauty-SPA practice for preventive care and wellness travel.
